Activities planned around president’s installati­on

Widener University has announced its lineup of activities planned to celebrate the installati­on of Stacey Robertson as its 11th president during the week of April 10.

Widener said the following activities are free and members of the local community are warmly welcomed to RSVP and join the university for this celebrator­y time.

All the events are listed online at widener.edu/Inaugurati­onRegistra­tion, and include registrati­on links. Everyone who attends is asked to register by March 29.

Highlights include: • Monday, April 10, 3 to 4 p.m.: Water ice and ice cream social with Robertson, Widener University Bown Garden behind Old Main.

• Tuesday, April 11, 3 to 6 p.m.: Community cleanup and Zac’s Burgers food truck. Robertson and the Pride will continue the university’s legacy of community • engagement by working to beautify Sun Hill and Washington Park from 3 to 5 p.m. When the cleanup concludes, those who participat­ed will be treated to Robertson’s favorite comfort foods from Zac’s. Everything begins at the Bown Garden behind Old Main.

• Wednesday, April 12, 10-11 a.m.: Hidden history of Widener tour. This tour narrates the conjoined history of Chester and the university in the mid20th century. This will be led by the two students who created it, and their faculty advisor. Departs from Alumni Auditorium.

• Wednesday, April 12, 2-3:30 p.m.: History panel “Chained in Silence: Black women and convict labor in the new South.” Talitha L. LeFlouria, associate professor of history and fellow of the Mastin Gentry White Professors­hip in Southern History at the University of Texas at Austin will deliver this history lecture. Afternoon desserts will follow. Lathem Hall, 13th and Potter streets.

• Thursday, April 13, 2-3:30 p.m.: Robertson’s installati­on at Schwartz Athletic Center gymnasium.

• Thursday, April 13, 4 to 6 p.m.: Inaugurati­on celebratio­n reception. University Center atrium, 14th Street, Chester.
