Darby Township police arrested two men and a teen on drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop on Hook Road.

A faulty headlight and illegally tinted windows on a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu drew the attention of an officer at Industrial Drive just after midnight on Feb. 16, police said in a news release.

Police gave this account: As a result of those traffic violations, the officer activated his emergency lights and siren and stopped the

Chevy at 84th Street and Madison Place just over the city line in Philadelphia.

Four people were in the car. While speaking with the driver, Nigel Eaton, 22, police detected the smell of marijuana and Eaton admitted there was marijuana in the car. He gave consent for police to search the vehicle.

During that search, police found more than a pound of pot and what they said was paraphernalia consistent with packaging and sale of the drug. In addition to the pot, officers recovered a .40-caliber, semi-automatic firearm with eight rounds in it.

Nobody in the car had a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

Eaton as well as passenger Naim Carter, 21, Philadelphia, and a 17-year-old boy were taken into custody.

A 10-year-old child in the car was released to his parents.

Eaton and Carter were arraigned by District Judge S. Sandone on firearms, drug and drug paraphernalia charges.

Bail was set at 10 percent of $150,000, which they were unable to post and therefore transported to the George W. Hill Correctional Facility. A bail hearing on Feb. 28 decreased bail to $75,000, which both men were able to post and they are awaiting a March 28 preliminary hearing.

The juvenile was placed on GPS monitoring and released to his parents until a preliminary hearing is scheduled.
