Catka powers Sun Valley past Bonner & Prendie

Alena Catka was unstoppabl­e in Sun Valley’s girls lacrosse match Wednesday.

The senior attack produced five goals, three assists and 11 draw controls to lead the Vanguards to a 19-9 victory over over Bonner & Prendergas­t

Riley Basht scored four goals and Luci Damico chipped in three goals and two assists. Alison Riley (two goals, one assist) and Lainey Chestnut (one goal, three assists) also had nice games for the Vanguards. Goalie Tori Burgos made 14 saves.

Leila George scored five goals and Taylor Egan added three for the Pandas.

In other nonleague action:

Marple Newtown 20, Chichester 5 >> Juliana Rodriguez accumulate­d five goals and one assist to lead an explosive Tigers attack Tuesday. Lizzie Getz registered four goals and an assist, while Jonica Wark and Emily Frescoin each posted a hat trick for MN. Lily Embersole contribute­d two goals and two assists.

Natalia Willoughby carried Chichester with five goals.

Boys Lacrosse

Kris Henning registered two goals and an assist in Garnet Valley’s 7-4 nonleague setback against Downingtow­n West late Tuesday.

In other nonleague contests:

Cape Henlopen 10, Episcopal Academy 10 >> Lucas Slate had three goals and Dylan Jaszc added a pair for the Churchmen Tuesday. Joe Malone recorded a goal and an assist and TJ Lamb had two helpers.

Rustin 15, Haverford 4 >> Curran Kranick, Nikolas McKendry, Ben Devits and Nils McCallion scored for the Fords in a losing effort Tuesday.

Softball

Julia Brown’s RBI groundout drove in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning as Bonner & Prendergas­t defeated Springfiel­d, 3-2. Brown pitched a complete game with six strikeouts and allowed only one earned run.

Aaliyah Smith was 2-for-4 with a double and Lexi Horton added a walk and two-base hit. Kristin Webb singled and got a free pass.

Ryleigh Frye went 2-for-3 with a double for the Cougars.

Baseball

Jimmy Anderson had a double and two RBIs and closed out Academy Park’s 12-9 win over Renaissanc­e Academy.

AP starter Chris Lidstone struck out seven over four innings to earn the victory. Elvin Rodriguez had a hit and two RBIs, while Zymire Latimore scored three runs for the Knights.

In other nonleague action:

Episcopal Academy 10, King’s Christian 0 >> The Churchmen scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as three pitchers combined for the five-inning shutout. Starter Ryan Tansky struck out six across three innings.

Brad Johnston went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, one RBI and a walk. Tansky (two RBIs), Alex Barrist and Jack Gallagher (two RBIs) all doubled.

Boys Tennis

Episcopal Academy’s Gavin Schmidt was victorious first singles, but the Churchmen fell to Friends Central in a nonleague contest, 3-2.

Xin Xin Fang and Daniel Adibi earned a 6-7, 6-3, 10-6 win at No. 2 doubles for EA.
