Radnor library to hold screening of ‘It’s Just Joe’
Delco's libraries hold book sales, speakers and other special programs in April
RADNOR » A free screening of the film “It’s Just Joe” will be held at the Radnor Memorial Library, 114 W. Wayne Ave., Radnor Township, Sunday, April 23 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Windsor Room.
The event includes a reception and question-andanswer session.
Award-winning filmmakers Jill Frechie and John Ricciutti will present their film, along with a chance to meet the film’s subject Joe Petrellis, iconic fashion and forensic photographer and bon vivant.
Petrellis enjoyed an illustrious career photographing many of the world’s most famous models and hobnobbing with the rich and famous.

Prospect Park Library holds book and bake sale
Prospect Park Library, 720 Maryland Ave., Prospect Park, will hold its Spring Book and Bake Sale, Friday, March 31 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, April 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Everyone is encouraged to come early for the best selections of adult and children’s books, popular magazines and DVD bargains. There are many new titles and items added to browse. A homemade baked goods table will also be available.
All proceeds benefit library programs.
A spring open house will be held on Saturday, April 1.
Children of all ages may stop in anytime between 10 a.m. and noon for springthemed activities and craft.
Also, spring story time sessions start on Mondays, from April 10 to May 1, at 6:30 p.m. for ages 3 and up. The sessions will include stories and fun activities, including crafts.

Springfield Library offers open air Shakespeare
“Shakespeare in the Open Air: Life, love, sonnets & soliloquies” will be held outdoors, 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29 in the Springfield Township building amphitheater.
Everyone is invited to come experience the beauty, power, and passion of Shakespeare’s poetry and prose as Dr. Covington performs romantic and captivating excerpts from some of his most famous sonnets and plays in this tour-de-force presentation in full Renaissance costume, including period music as well.
Covington is an Oxfordeducated historian, distinguished stage actor and dynamic entertainer/educator. This program will be held outside so best to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Registration is required at https:// delcolibraries.libcal.com/ event/10546962.
Tinicum Library holds programs on honeybees, King Tut’s tomb and apple pies
Tinicum Memorial Public Library, 620 Seneca St., Essington will present “All About Honeybees,” 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, April 5, with Ed Pieters.
The lecture, complete with visual aids and real beekeeping equipment, will cover the following topics: stinging insects; how bees make honey, different kinds of honey; why is the number of honey bees is decreasing; other products made by honeybees; beekeeping equipment; basic biology of honeybees; and honeybeefriendly plants.
“Everywhere, The Glint of Gold: Treasures from the Tomb of King Tutankhamun” will be presented, 1 p.m. Saturday April 15.
Everyone is invited to come and spend time inside King Tut’s tomb, without having to travel to Egypt. Presented by Dr. Stephen R. Phillips, of the Egyptian Section, University of Pennsylvania Museum. The lecture first recounts the extraordinary chain of events leading up to Howard Carter’s discovery of King Tut’s tomb. Then everyone will see amazing images of the breathtaking array of spectacular ancient artifacts it contained, including gold, precious stones, sculpted
alabaster and beautifully carved wooden objects.
“Bring me Some Apples and I’ll Make you a Pie” will be offered 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 19.
The program is presented by the Delaware Museum of Nature & Science and features the book “Bring Me Some Apples and I’ll Make You a Pie.” The presenter will explore how the seasons are unique and their effect on the growth of local crops. Attendees will learn why there are flowers all year long.

Media-Upper Providence Library issues last call for book donations before April sale
The Media-Upper Providence Free Library Book Sale is putting out a last call for donations for the spring sale, which will be held at the library April 15 to 17.
The library is accepting books, games, puzzles, CDs and DVDs.
The drop-off location is at the library, 1 E. Front St., Media, in the specially marked bins to the left of the main entrance on Jackson Street.
Donations may be left 24 hours a day, seven days a week through April 1. Donations will not be accepted during the rest of April.
Those who are planning to make a large donation should email librarysalemupl@gmail.com or call 610566-1918 so that the library can have extra bins available.
Swarthmore Public Library presents programs on African American storytelling and more in April
Swarthmore Public Library will present “African American Museum in Philadelphia: Storytelling & Folktales” 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, April 3. The program will talk about the art of traditional African and African American storytelling from a modern griot (storyteller).
The library will host “Macabre Society,” 6:30- 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 4. On the first Tuesday of every other month, horror aficionados can gather for a sampling of genre delights. This month, the group will be viewing and talking about the film, “The Black Phone.”
Sensory Hour at the library will be Sunday, April 16 from 1 to 2 p.m. and Monday, April 17 from 6 to 7 p.m.
Neurodiverse patrons and their companions can stop in for a less crowded library experience, with additional signage, sensory and activity stations, and a lower light and sound space available to take a break. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the visit.

In-Stitches, a club that meets biweekly to stitch, socialize and share tips will get together 10-11:30 a.m. April 14 and 28. Participants are encouraged to bring along their current knit, crochet or needle work project or begin a new one.
For kids, the PAWS program will be offered on the first and third Thursday of the month from 6 to 7 p.m. Children, ages kindergarten and above, can read one-onone to a therapy dog. Kids can practice reading to the best listener, a dog.
Therapy dog teams will be at the library to listen to beginning and reluctant readers read a book of their choice for 10 minutes. This is also an ideal opportunity for English-language learners.
All Ages Storytime will be held Fridays at 11 a.m. Everyone can join the library team for singing, moving and, of course, reading in the Activity Room.
