Gougler unstoppable in Springfield’s win
Ty Gougler broke out for seven goals and two assists as the Springfield boys lacrosse team crushed Avon Grove, 14-7, in nonleague action Thursday.
Jimmy Kennedy posted three goals and Aidan Kreydt added a goal and two assists for the Cougars. Lucas Aaron and Tommy Rush combined for 19 faceoff wins.
CARDINAL O’HARA 8, SUN VALLEY 5 » Dillon DiBattista (one assist) and Ryan Crowley paced the Lions with two goals apiece. Mike Kutufaris provided an assist, eight groundballs and two caused turnovers. Goalie Nick Hanna made 17 saves.
HAVERFORD 7, WEST CHESTER
EAST 4 » Brendan McNichol accrued three goals and an assist for the Fords. Curran Kranick scored twice and goalie Wade Devitis stopped 16 shots.
STRATH HAVEN 13, POPE JOHN PAUL II » Jamison Soeiro erupted for eight goals and one assist as the Panthers outslugged the Golden Panthers. Tate Gorman contributed one goal and three helpers.
GARNET VALLEY 11, WILSON 8 » Kris Henning paired six goals with one assist and Kai Lopez (three assists) was 12-for-18 on faceoffs for the Jaguars.
Andrew Goldt had two goals and goalie Andrew Keaveney piled up 11 saves.
Softball
Upper Darby pitcher Sarah Gentile belted a home run and registered six strikeouts as the Royals rolled to a 16-1 victory over Academy Park.
Keira Andrelczyk also homered and finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored. CC Jones was 3-for-3 with a pair of triples, two runs scored and two RBIs. Maggie Calcagni had a single, double and an RBI.
Baseball
Five pitchers combined to throw a three-hit shutout in Episcopal Academy’s 8-0 decision over Delco Christian. Logan Correll and Zach LaTour both went yard for the Churchmen.
Sam Dixon and Caleb Jameson each had a double for the Knights.
In another nonleague game: HOLY GHOST PREP 10, HAVERFORD SCHOOL 7 » Mark Quatrani went 3-for-4 with a home run for the Fords (5-1) in a game that ended after six innings due to darkness. Pat White added three hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Jaiden Shuchman had two hits for the Fords.
