Mary Ann Strembo, 72, of Second Street, Shamokin, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Emmanuel Center for Nursing and Rehabilita­tion, Danville, Pennsylvan­ia, after undergoing surgery at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Mary Ann was born on June 26, 1950, in Shamokin, Pennsylvan­ia, the daughter of the late Matthew P. Strembo and Helen M. Strembo. Mary Ann graduated from St. Cyril Academy in Danville, Pennsylvan­ia and later received both her bachelor of science and doctorate in pharmacy from Duquesne University. Mary Ann practiced as a pharmacist in retail, hospitals, long-term care facilities and prisons across Pennsylvan­ia. She also worked as a medical writer for SmithKline Pharmaceut­icals in Philadelph­ia.

Mary Ann was a caring, spiritual person who was always willing to help those in need. She was a member of the choir at Our Lady of Hope in Coal Township, Pennsylvan­ia; loved to attend opera in Philadelph­ia where, for a time, she was a season ticket holder; she was a member, and later supporter, of the Duquesne University Tamburitza­ns; Mary was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan; and she loved her cats. Mary Ann is survived by her four cats: Blondie, Katrinka, Tatiana and Irina. In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was predecease­d by a brother, John, who passed away in 1947.

No visitation will be held. However, a funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope, 863 Chestnut Street, Coal Township, Pennsylvan­ia, at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Arrangemen­ts are being made through Kelley Funeral Home, 1005 West Arch Street, Coal Township, PA.
