Blotter: $20,000 lost in PayPal scam, workfrom-home job scam

June 14
A 33-year-old male from the 3600 block of 21st Street, Philadelphia, was charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property at Kohl’s.
2400 block of Merwood Lane. Victim received an email from someone claiming to be from PayPal. They directed her to make several deposits into a Robinhood account. She became aware of the scam after she deposited $20,000.
400 block of Glendale Road. The victim accepted an alleged job from Zendesk. The “employer” requested her personal and banking information through email. She was told the company was going to send her a computer to work from home. She never received the computer and began to notice many fraudulent charges on all her accounts.
600 block of Hazelwood Road. A vehicle window was reported shattered.
June 15
Acme on West Chester Pike. Three shoplifters stole an unknown amount of groceries.
Acme West Chester Pike. An unknown male attempted to steal $460 in merchandise. An employee confronted the subject and was able to recover the merchandise.
June 16
Rite Aid on West Chester Pike. A male stole a Frappuccino and candy.
First block of West Langhorne Avenue, reported at 10:41 a.m.
100 block of Fawn Lane. The victim was notified by the fraud department from his bank. They advised him that someone presented a forged copy of his driver’s license and withdrew $7,000 from his account.
June 17
A 40-year-old homeless male was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, simple assault, harassment, recklessly endangering another person, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia in the100 block of Wyndmoor Road.
June 18
Acme on Lancaster Avenue: An unknown female attempted to pay for $22 in groceries at self-checkout but the PIN was incorrect. The woman ignored the employee and
fled the store.
June 19
Chatham Park School, 400 block of Allston Road. At 9:13 p.m., a juvenile male was assaulted by a group of juveniles. Investigation is ongoing.
2200 block of Haverford Road. At 5:33 p.m. a firearm was reported stolen from the trunk of a vehicle.
A 41-year-old female from the1300 block of Berks Street, Philadelphia, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia at Lowe’s.
The YMCA on North Eagle Road, reported at 6:42 p.m.
June 20
Retail theft >> Acme on West Chester Pike. It was reported an unknown male stole $28 worth of alcohol.
500 block of Ellis Road. Someone attempted to open a credit card account using the victim’s identity.
