Brown’s election brings promise of brighter days for Upper Darby
Editor:
Upper Darby Township selecting Ed Brown as the seventh mayor is good news. Hopefully, through Brown’s leadership, staff
members, including the Upper Darby chief administrative officer and department heads, have freedom plus a skilled, qualified leader to do their jobs for the betterment of the township.
With Brown’s role of being the Upper Darby School District board of directors president his abilities to lead the youth
in a positive impact is admirable, making sure our youth do not cause harm in the neighborhood, but build it up.
With Brown, the township will have an experienced leader running one of the largest municipalities in Pennsylvania. Creating new agendas, setting the tone for improvement of our municipality. As detailed
in his four-year plan, a five-point agenda to reduce crime, he has promised to add police officers to the force, and include in the township’s budget what is needed to cover the important services.
Brown and staff, in association with the township council members, need to work side by side with the sanitation department,
making sure the trucks are in safe working condition, maintaining a positive outlook on cleaning the township everywhere, and respecting our neighborhoods.
Also, they should work to uphold the home rule charter governing the township.
More ordinances with hopeful vision need to be established, and leaders should listen to all constituents’ concerns, and work to make streets safer with block captains. With the election of Ed Brown, there is hope Upper Darby Township will make progress towards a safer, cleaner community.
