Dalce leads ’Nova women past Penn

Junior Christina Dalce posted career highs of 18 points and 17 rebounds as Villanova conquered Penn, 68-62, in a Big 5 women’s basketball matchup Tuesday at the Pavilion.

Dalce shot 7-for-12 from the floor and had three blocks for the Wildcats (6-2), who forced 17 Penn turnovers. Maddie Webber tossed in a seasonhigh 16 points off the bench and Lucy Olsen totaled 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Jordan Obi registered a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Mikayla Gayle added 17 points and Stina Almqvist had 14 points for the Quakers (5-4).

SAINT JOSEPH’S 62, BOSTON UNIVERSITY 47 » SJU continued its torried start to the season via a blowout win at Case Gym in Boston.

Mackenzie Smith scored a game-high 22 points to boost the Hawks (8-0). Tayla Brugler added 13 points, Julia Nystrom scored eight and Laura Ziegler had seven points and 11 rebounds.

For BU (5-3), Caitlyn Weimar scored 18 points. RUTGERS 98, LA SALLE 67 » Fifth-year senior Molly Mascianton­io (Archbishop Carroll All-Delco) notched six points and two steals, while freshman Amber Bullard (The Christian Academy) added five points and nine rebounds for La Salle.

The Explorers (3-5) shot 32.8 percent (21-for-64) from the field and committed 17 turnovers. Rutgers center Kassondra Brown (12 points) scored her 1,000th career point.

Men’s

Zubair Lee made a pair of tie-breaking free throws in overtime and Eastern held on to defeat Neumann, 92-90.

Jaron Fairweathe­r poured in 26 points for the Eagles. Kaeshawn Ward tallied 24 points and Lee and Kevin Reeves each scored 14.

Jalen Vaughns produced a game-high 30 points for the Knights. TJ Lewis added 23 and Kyle Thompson 22.
