Muhammad, Hall lead Chester girls past Central

Chester’s Ja’Mya Muhammad scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds during Wednesday’s 5949 nonleague girls basketball victory over Central High.

Shyne Hall closed with 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while Imani Dorsey added 15 points, seven steals and six assists in the winning effort.

Jordan Dennis sank three 3-point baskets for nine points and snared five rebounds for the Clippers.

Jayda Wright led Central with 15 points.

In other nonleague action:

Gabrielle Seibert led a balanced scoring attack for the Owls with nine points. She added five rebounds and two steals.

Simone Harvey and Milan Harvey each netted seven points for the victors. Amelia Bagnell excelled on defense.

Morris compiled 12 points, 10 rebounds.

Laila Johnson had a solid floor game with eight points, six assists, five boards and three steals.

In the Central League:

Bailey Garrison went for 18 points and Makayla Johnson made four free throws late in regulation to seal the Lions’ victory Tuesday.

Alex Bruce chipped in with eight points for the winning team.

Maryella Gill scored 12 points and Olivia Voshell had eight for Haven.

Boys Basketball

Billy Rayer amassed 12 points as The Haverford School clobbered Maritime Charter in a nonleague tilt, 69-30.

Silas Graham and Jacob Becker added eight points apiece for the Fords (4-3).

In the Bicentenni­al League:

Beau Lyren netted a team-high 12 points, but the Knights (1-3, 1-1) lost a close one. Khamani Orange, Josiah Gaines and Brad Berwick all finished with nine points.

Four players scored in double digits for Dock, with Robbie Sukaley (14 points) leading the waing.

Boys Wrestling

The Episcopal Academy picked up a 45-21 nonleague win over Westtown School.

EA’s Riley Crowe outdueled Westtown Miguel Wenderoth Bachiller, 13-10, in the 175-pound match. Daniel Hopkins (106), Francesco Forte (190) and Dorian Dabney (195) all won by fall for the Churchmen.

Girls Squash

Amelie Matuch was among the top performers in Agnes Irwin’s 9-2 triumph over Inter-Ac League foe Episcopal Academy.

Matuch, Beatrice Bullitt, Gabrielle Glaser, Charlotte Green and Maya Soldatovic­h all secured 3-0 victories for the Owls. Audrey Gelinas and Isa Matuch earned 3-1 decisions.

Riya Shankaran and Kaitlyn Vahlsong accounted for the Church women’s only wins.
