Olsen, Villanova edge Georgetown in OT thriller

Lucy Olsen’s free throw with five seconds left in overtime lifted the Villanova women’s basketball team to a 53-51 decision over Georgetown at the Finneran Pavilion on Wednesday afternoon.

After the Hoyas tied the game at 44-44 with 2:55 to go in regulation, each team failed to score until the extra session. Olsen hit a jump shot to give the Wildcats (10-5, 3-1 Big East) a 48-47 lead, then the Hoyas regained the lead when Mya Bembry scored with 29 seconds remaining.

‘Nova’s Kaitlyn Orihel hit a foul shot with two seconds left to make score.

Olsen led all players with 28 points to go with nine rebounds, three steals and two assists.

EASTERN 64, WIDENER 57 » Jeriyah Johnson scored a season-high 17 points to go with a team-high six assists for the Eagles. Miranda Liebtag amassed 14 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots.

Jordan D’Ambrosio (Springfiel­d AllDelco) led all players with 23 points for the Pride.

Donoven Mack’s 18-point effort powered Cabrini past Neumann, 79-76, in Atlantic East Conference action.

Isaac Brady added 15 points and seven rebounds, Eric Neal had 13 points and three steals, and Bryan Warren ended with 12 points and five assists for the Cavaliers (5-10).

Jalen Vaughn netted 18 points while TJ Lewis and Kyle Thompson each finished with 17 points for the Knights (4-12).

UMASS 81, LA SALLE 65 » Tunde Vahlberg Fasasi paced the Explorers (10-5) with 14 points. Jhamir Brickus added 12 points and six assists.
