Albright School of Educational Innovation empowers future teachers
Launched in 2023 to empower current and future teachers through personalized, experiential learning, Albright College’s new School of Educational Innovation offers a range of education degrees — from traditional four-year bachelor’s programs to master’s degrees to certifications in several categories.
To serve students seeking a fast track to a graduate degree, the school also offers dual bachelor’s and master’s 4+1 programs to enable students to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in just five years.
What sets Albright education programs apart? All integrate the movement that is changing education and re-invigorating educators — Total Experience Learning (TExpL). This methodology, currently used by 14 of the 18 Berks County school districts, is a groundbreaking approach to education with impressive results.
Research finds that K-12 students in TExpL classrooms demonstrate 86% improvement in their English test scores compared to 48% of students in non-TExpL classrooms taught by the same teacher. Data also revealed that fifth-grade students in TExpL classrooms demonstrated a 93-point increase on the iReady Mathematics Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) test, compared to an 18-point increase in non-TExpL classrooms. Increases of one to two levels in reading proficiency have also been documented.
These impactful outcomes for K-12 students have resulted in large networks of school district administrators seeking candidates with TExpL experience when hiring education graduates at all levels of teaching.
“TExpL has revitalized not only my classroom, but who I am as an educator,” said Sarah Johnson, a first-grade teacher at Allentown Sacred Heart. “TExpL challenges me to keep student learning, engagement, and achievement at the center of my educational designs.”
All Albright education students — in areas like general education, PreK-4 education, secondary education and K-12 special education, art education and foreign languages — benefit from in-depth training in TExpL methodology and can gain hands-on experience in the classroom working with young learners in Albright’s on-campus, school-age learning academies.
If you’re considering a teaching career, you should also know that while Albright’s innovative programs and real-world learning experiences go beyond what other colleges offer, they come at no extra cost when compared to other state and private schools known for traditional education programs. And, 97% of Albright students receive financial aid.
