RIDLEY PARK » St. James Regional Catholic School, 500 Tome St., Ridley Park, will present “Shrek The Musical Jr.,” directed by Suzi Waldie.

The shows are Friday, April 19 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, April 20 at 2 and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, April 21 at 2 p.m.

Beauty is in the eye of the ogre in “Shrek The Musical Jr.,” based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and Broadway musical.

It’s a “big bright beautiful world” as everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance.

Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, “Shrek Jr.” is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family. By attending the local show, audience members can laugh, sing and support hard-working young students in the community.

Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance. For tickets, go to: https:// stjamesregional.seatyourself.biz.

Sip while strolling through flower gardens

Winterthur will host Sip Among The Blooms on Saturday April 20 from noon to 3 p.m. Visitors to Winterthur can explore cheerful masses of narcissus throughout the garden as they sample wine varietals perfect for spring, courtesy of Moët Hennessy.

As they sip and stroll, people can enjoy live music and local plein-air artists.

Daffodils are one of the few plants Henry Francis du Pont would write about and one in which he maintained a lifelong interest. Winterthur is one of the few places in the country where visitors can see so many daffodils. Many that blossom there are historic cultivars from the late 1800s and early 1900s.

The event costs $55, or $50 for members, and includes tasting of four wines, Winterthur stemless wineglass, live music and general admission.

Cost is $30 for designated driver and includes one nonalcoholic beverage. This is an outdoor walking event, with tasting stations located throughout the garden.

Participants should dress for the weather and for walking on uneven terrain. Rain date is Sunday, April 21.

Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library are at 5105 Kennett Pike, Winterthur, Delaware. For information or tickets, call 800-4483883 or see www.winterthur.org/calendar/wine-through-winterthur-sipamong-the-blooms-2.
