PROSPECT PARK » Interboro students celebrated Friday night, April 12 at the High School’s annual Bucs-aThon event, after surpassing their goal of $20,000 and raising a whopping $28,564 for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The total is almost double what was raised last year and it is the highest total in Interboro Bucks-aThon history.

Representatives from CHOP were on-site to say a few words and accept the generous donation. This year’s Bucs-a-Thon was under the leadership of student Megan Keeney.

The Bucs-a-Thon is a charitable organization with the mission of raising money for CHOP.

Students begin raising money as soon as the school year begins in September, holding all types of fundraisers, from apparel sales to special dinner nights at Nifty Fifty’s, Panera’s and other restaurants, where they received a percentage of the sales.

To celebrate the goalbreaking donation to CHOP, the Bucs opened the Interboro gym to all members of the Interboro School District community Friday night for “community hours” from 4 to 7 p.m. Donors who gave $50 or more were able to stay until 10 and had full access to all activities, which included yard games, face painting, mini-golf, a bounce houses, karaoke, laser tag, dancing and more.

The event also had an abundance of food donated from local businesses such as Chick-fil-A, Wawa, America’s Pie, Delco Steaks and others.

Special thanks also goes to Philly Mini Golf Rentals and Jason’s Jumpers.
