-

Felony charges of kidnapping DAYTON — and rape of a child under the age of 13 have been approved by the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office against Randy Stanaford, 39, a Tier III sexual offender accused in connection with an alleged sexual assault of a girl at a bus stop on Edgar Avenue. According to the sex offender registry that is linked to the sheriff’s website, Stanaford is listed as a Tier III sexual offender and his address was listed as homeless in the area of North Main Street and East Monument Avenue in Dayton.

In June 2014, he was released following a December 2008 conviction on charges of public indecency and kidnapping of a minor to engage in sexual activity (attempted), according to the registry. The kidnapping involved a juvenile female.

Stanaford’s nickname is “Shrek,” according to the registry.

The Tier III designation means he has to register his address every 90 days for the rest of his life.

Stanaford was picked up on a parole violation on Thursday, but will be arrested for kidnapping and rape in connection with the case, Dayton police said in a release.

He is being held in jail pending formal charges.

The alleged attack happened Monday morning on Edgar Avenue, one block south of Wyoming Street in the Walnut Hills neighborhood. A girl reported being assaulted while waiting for a bus to take her to school.

Police did not disclose the age of the girl or whether she was taken to a hospital.
