Welcome to the big time, Jimmy Kimmel. The late-night goofball takes his first crack at hosting Hollywood’s biggest bash, and we wouldn’t be at all surprised if politics is among the prime topics of conversati­on. (Go easy on those Mean Tweets). As for the movies, “La La Land” leads the nomination list with a record-tying 14 and is a good bet to dance off with the biggest prize of the night. Scheduled performers include Lin-Manuel Miranda, Auli’i Cravalho, Sting, Justin Timberlake and John Legend. 8:30 p.m. Sunday, with red-carpet coverage starting at 7, ABC.

Today:

We’re counting down the days until Rick and the gang do battle with the evil Negan on “The Walking Dead.” But in tonight’s episode, a resident from Alexandria must navigate the mysterious world within the Saviors’ compound. 9 p.m., AMC.

Season 12 of “The Voice” begins with the Blind Auditions as Gwen Stefani returns to the coaches panel. Now if only she and the others can finally discover a singer we’ll remember. 8 p.m., NBC.

Guy Pearce and Mary Louise-Parker head the cast of “When We Rise.” It’s an emotionall­y powerful four-part, eighthour miniseries that recalls the 50-year history of the gay rights movement and shines a light on the activists who led the way. 9 p.m., ABC.

Inspired by the film franchise, “Taken” is a turbocharg­ed new drama series that follows the origin story of a younger, hungrier former Green Beret Bryan Mills (Clive Standen) as he deals with a personal tragedy that shakes up his world. Jennifer Beals also stars. 10 p.m., NBC.

Tuesday:

President Donald Trump makes his first address to the joint session of Congress. Count on plenty of post-speech analysis, as well as the Democratic response. 6 p.m. PT, the major networks and cable news channels. (9 p.m. ET).

Because three apparently just weren’t enough, we now have a fourth Windy City drama from producer Dick Wolf. Welcome to “Chicago Justice,” a legal series that will try its best to differenti­ate itself from “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago P.D.” and “Chicago Med.” What? Is “Chicago Dog Pound” next? 10 p.m., NBC.

Uh-oh, there’s trouble in paradise on “The Big Bang Theory.” It looks like Amy and Sheldon’s live-in relationsh­ip might be in the toilet after he accuses her of not sticking to the bathroom schedule. 8 p.m., CBS.

In the Season 1 finale of the culinary throw-down known as “My Kitchen Rules,” Lance Bass and his mom, Diane, face Andrew Dice Clay and his wife, Valerie. The title and bragging rights are on the line. 9 p.m., Fox.

We’ve come to the end of the Yellow Brick Road as “Emerald City” completes its first, and perhaps only, season. In the finale, Dorothy faces off against the Wizard in the fight to save Oz. 9 p.m., NBC.

Octavia Spencer, star of the Oscar-nominated “Hidden Figures” and “The Shack,” is our host for tonight’s installmen­t of “Saturday Night Live.” 11:30 p.m., NBC.
