It was an eventful weekend for Kansas, which clinched its 13th straight Big 12 championship with a victory at Texas on Saturday.

OnMonday, the Jayhawks moved up two places in The Associated Press poll to the top spot, receiving 58 first place votes from the 65- member media panel. The Jayhawks spent five weeks at No. 1 last season, but became the sixth No. 1 this season by moving to the top spot for the first time after topranked Gonzaga and No. 2 Villanova lost last week.

Villanova (27-3) remained second and received two first-place votes. UCLA (263) moved up from fifth to third and earned three firstplace votes. Gonzaga (29-1) fell to No. 4.

Texas: Coach ShakaSmart said sophomore swingman Tevin Mack was released from his scholarship. Mack was the Longhorns’ leading scorerwhen he was suspended in January for the second time this season.

Creighton: Bond was set at $750,000 for Maurice Watson Jr., who is charged with first-degree sexual assault, accused of forcing a 19-year-old Omaha woman into nonconsensual sex. The senior point guard, 23, suffered a season-ending knee injury last month and has been suspended from the team and barred from campus since Feb. 13. Monday’s games
