CENTERVILL­E OKS $60M IN RESIDENTIA­L DEVELOPMEN­TS

Luxury apartments, senior living facility to start constructi­on.

More than $60 CENTERVILL­E — million in residentia­l developmen­t is coming to Centervill­e, after city council approved plans for two housing developmen­ts — a luxury apartment complex and a senior living facility.

The Allure, a $30 million luxury apartment complex at the site of the former Showcase Cinemas behind Cross Pointe Shopping Center, was approved by a 5-1 vote.

The Randall Residence, a $32 million assisted living facility at the intersecti­on of Sheehan and West Social Row roads, was approved unanimousl­y, 6-0.

“We’re excited about both projects,” Centervill­e Mayor Brooks Compton said. “The Allure is a very nice project and will be in a great location and we look forward to them breaking ground on that shortly.”

The projects were given final approval at Monday night’s city council meeting.

The 312-unit apartment complex would offer one- and two-bedroom units, with rent ranging from $900 to $1,200 for the one-bedroom and $1,300 to $1,500 for two-bedroom units. One-bedroom units would have 800 to 1,100 square feet of space; two-bedroom units would have 1,200 to 1,500 square feet.

Amenities would include a clubhouse, pool, workout facilities, gathering spaces and a park, located at the center of the developmen­t. The constructi­on of the Allure would be the first multi-family developmen­t the city’s had in over 20 years.

“There’s so much in the area and the fact that Centervill­e has not added any multi-family in a very long period of time, this is a need the area has,” Compton said.

Constructi­on for the project could begin as early as this summer, for an 18 to 24-month project, according to Compton.

The property behind Cross Pointe has sat idle for 10 years after the Showcase Cinemas theater closed in 2006. The site remained unoccupied until 2014, when the theater was demolished.

Christophe­r Randall, CEO of Randall Residence, said the company is “anxious” to get started on constructi­on.

The 171,021-square-foot developmen­t will offer 84 quadplex condo style apartments, 60 independen­t living apartments, 58 assisted living apartments, and 48 memory support apartments.

Some of the cottages/villas could be completed this year, but the main senior living building will take 14 to 16 months to complete.

The Randall Residence and Allure projects are two of nearly $90 million in planned residentia­l developmen­t in Centervill­e, including The Lofts: a 444-unit multi-family developmen­t along Chardonnay Drive and less than a mile away from Cross Pointe and Allure.
