Celebratio­n of Minority Health Month in April

Public Health–Dayton & Montgomery County kicks off minority health month today. Events today and throughout the month will focus on reducing health disparitie­s and improving health outcomes among minorities in Montgomery County. The events are as scheduled: 2017 Minority Health Month Kick-Off! : 9 a.m. - 12

p.m., Neon Movies, 130 E. Fifth St., Dayton. The event will feature a screening of the movie “Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick?,” the presentati­on of Community Leadership Awards, free lunch, free health screenings and more. Community Forum on

Infant Mortality: Wednesday, 5:30–7:30 p.m., Central State University Dayton Campus, 840 Germanton St., Dayton. Join in to discuss what can be done to reduce the number of babies dying in our community. Event includes a free light meal, health screenings and a special program for

fathers. RSVP by April 3 to csroggins@phdmc.org. Building Community

Health Capacity Forum: Saturday, April 29, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., Dakota Center, 33 Barnette St., Dayton. A workshop for community leaders, neighborho­od associatio­ns, priority boards, area coalitions and the public to increase the ability to take action and improve the healthcare outcomes among minorities. The event includes free lunch and health screenings. RSVP by April 22nd to cscroggins@phdmc.org.
