- Household Hints

Dear Readers:

Summer is the time for lots of barbecues and parties, and some families like to use regular silverware for these gatherings. When the party is over and guests want to help clean up, always be careful to count the silverware when you’re washing it or putting it into the dishwasher. Finally, get down on the floor to scope out any other potential hazards. Also, check with your hotel. Some are now offering childproofing kits for use in their rooms.

Don’t toss worn couch throw pillows. Instead, wash or give them a good spray with a fabric deodorizer. Then look for pillow covers when they are on sale. There are great selections of colorful covers. If you like to sew, you can take fabric you have on hand to make covers. Or take them outside to be used on the patio or porch during the summer, and then they can be tossed.
