SEE WHAT’S HAPPENING AT AREA CAMPUSES

-

It is impossible to think about the end of another school year without reflecting on the way it began. As I walk through the Primary Building and observe the kindergartners succeeding in their routines, I remember the first day of school when they arrived a bit apprehensive yet excited about the new adventures awaiting them.

The staff has taken such care to enact plans that maximize every single day to the advantage of the students. It is clear that their efforts were well worth the preparation. As planned, our young learners have gained confidence, skills, and abilities that will help them successfully transition to first grade. Their pride in their accomplishments can be observed in how often they engage me in conversations about how excited they are about the next adventures ahead of them. It is a true joy to see the growth of our young people and witness the maturity and progress that teachers facilitate before our eyes.

At the other end of the spectrum and everywhere in between, the staff have had an equal impact on our most senior students. In a single day’s time I have the opportunity to travel from our kindergarten hallways and beyond to see the same growth in our seniors as they get ready to leave high school and transition to the next adventures that await them. They also exude confidence in their recent accomplishments but still remain a bit apprehensive as to what is around the next corner. After spending 13 years within the security of the school community, our students are finally ready to soar on their own.

Unfortunately, there is no way to predict the obstacles they will face. From their first days of kindergarten we do our best to prepare them to face adversity and overcome, always knowing that they are determined to reach the point of graduation and fly. Their true readiness to succeed in the future is not able to be gauged by assessments at the end of the year but is best observed in every day’s accomplishments. To ensure that we can fully celebrate the end of their journey, those of us in the education field must ensure that from the first day of school each year it is a priority to reinforce their talents, maximize their opportunities, expand their confidence, and illuminate their achievements.

I extend to all seniors my congratulations and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors, whether it’s furthering your education, serving our country in the military, or entering the work force. Always remember to pay forward and make the world a little better than you found it.

After spending 13 years within the security of the school community, our students are finally ready to soar on their own.
