Kell Brook (36-2) lost his IBF welterweig­ht belt when American challenger Errol Spence Jr. (22-0, 19 KOs) stopped him in the 11th round Saturday night in Sheffield, England.

North Carolina State added two transfers to its men’s team. C.J. Bryce played for new Wolfpack coach Kevin Keatts the past two seasons at UNC Wilmington and averaged 17.4 points. Devon Daniels averaged 9.9 points and 4.6 rebounds as a freshman for Utah. Both will sit out the upcoming season.

Tom Dumoulin won the 100th Giro d’Italia, reclaiming the overall lead in a final-stage individual time trial. The Dutchman entered the final 18-mile stage in fourth place but finished far enough ahead of his rivals to move back into the lead. In the overall standings, Dumoulin finished 31 seconds ahead of runner-up Nairo Quintana.

Cycling:

Bernhard Langer played near-flawless golf and took advantage of Vijay Singh’s late mistakes to win the Senior PGA Championsh­ip at Trump National in Sterling, Va., on Sunday for his record ninth senior major.

The Senior PGA was the only major that had eluded the German, 59, during his dominant decade-long run on the 50-and-over circuit.

Despite a few dozen protesters, the drama remained on the course at President Donald Trump’s club on the shores of the Potomac River. Trump, coming off a nine-day trip abroad, did not attend the final round.
