Fort Wayne’s Jorge Ona cracked a grand slam in the third inning Saturday night as the TinCaps beat the Dayton Dragons 7-4.

Dayton fell to 41-28. Both teams wrap up the first half of the Midwest League’s split-season format today.

Jose Siri had three hits, including a home run, to pace Dayton. Taylor Trammell had a three-run homer and a double.

Ty Boyles (2-1, 4.30) will start for Dayton today vs. Fort Wayne’s Pedro Avila (0-0, 7.94).

Friedl to Daytona:

Drag- ons outfielder T.J. Friedl was called up to High-A Daytona in the Florida State League on Saturday. Second base- man/outfielder Shane Mard- irosian was transferre­d from Daytona to Dayton.

Friedl hit .284 with five home runs, 25 RBIs and 14 stolen bases in 66 games with the Dragons.

Dayton clinched the Midwest League Eastern Division wild-card spot Friday night with its win, coupled with losses by Lansing and South Bend.

The Dragons will make their first playoff appearance since 2011 and will go to the playoffs as a first-half qualifier for the first time since 2007.

The Dragons will face Eastern Division champ West Michigan in a best-of-three playoff series beginning Sept. 6.
