Toronto Blue Jays closer Roberto Osuna says he is out of sorts mentally, feeling “a little bit anxious” and “a little bit weird.” And that is why he was unavailable to pitch Friday.

“I really don’t know how to explain it. I feel like I’m lost a little bit right now,” he said before Saturday’s game against Kansas City.

Manager John Gibbons did not use Osuna, 22, when the Royals scored four runs in the ninth off three relievers to win 5-4. Gibbons says Osuna was “just not feeling well.” He did not elaborate.

“I feel great physically. It’s just more mentally,” Osuna said through an interpreter. “I feel like I’m not myself right now.”

He says he has never experienced this sensation during his career. Paddy Steinford, the Blue Jays’ mental performance coach, has been working with Osuna to overcome his anxiety.

Osuna has 19 saves this season and is the youngest player in major league history to record 75 saves. He did not pitch Saturday.

Activated from the disabled list and inserted into the starting lineup at second base rather than shortstop Friday, Asdrubal Cabrera said he wants to be traded. The two-time All-Star had not started at second since Sept. 28, 2014. The Mets started Jose Reyes at shortstop against San Francisco on Friday night and Wilmer Flores at third.

Martin Perez was placed on the 10-day disabled list after injuring the thumb on his non-pitching hand in an accident at the team hotel, the latest setback for a depleted rotation. Perez ripped off the fingernail and broke a bone at the tip of his right thumb when he caught it in the hinge of a door Thursday night in New York. The left-hander joins fellow Texas starters Cole Hamels, Andrew Cashner and A.J. Griffin on the DL.

Former Chicago ace Mark Buehrle had his No. 56 jersey retired in a pregame ceremony Saturday. Widely considered the greatest White Sox left-hander in the expansion era, Buehrle earned 161 of his 214 victories with Chicago, playing 12 of his 16 seasons there. The five-time All-Star also threw two no-hitters, including a perfect game.

Today’s 71st annual Old Timers’ Day at Yankee Stadium is scheduled to feature Hall of Famers Whitey Ford, Goose Gossage, Rickey Henderson, Reggie Jackson, Joe Torre and 2017 inductee Tim Raines, who will be recognized during a special ceremony. Catcher Jorge Posada plans to make his Old Timers’ Day debut.

Outfielder A.J. Pollock (groin strain) is scheduled to play in a rehab game today.

Left-hander Brandon Finnegan (left shoulder soreness), who made his third rehabilitation start Wednesday, appears close to coming off the DL.

Outfielder Michael Brantley (sprained right ankle) is eligible to return from the 10-day DL Monday.

Felix Hernandez passed good friend Freddy Garcia with his 157th victory, the most by a Venezuelan-born pitcher.

Jerad Eickhoff (upper back strain) could miss more than one start, manager Pete Mackanin said.
