President, Brookville Local Schools Board of Education Five as president, 18 total on the board

Years served: What drew you to this type of public service?

A desire to give back to the community in which I grew up and to help ensure the schools were a better place for my family.

What is the best part of being a board member?

I take great satisfacti­on knowing I’ve played a small part in the future success of so many of our students, many of whose parents and grandparen­ts I’ve known for many years.

Have you had a favorite moment as a board member?

I’ve had several but I would have to say that having the privilege of handing each one of my kids their diplomas would be my favorite moments.

Tell us about your family and hobbies?

My wife, Betsy, and I have been married 30 years, both proud BHS graduates. I love to travel, spend time with friends and family and enjoy golf when I get the chance.

What is your favorite thing about Brookville Schools?

I love the close-knit community, and the fact that kids have the opportunit­y to get involved in numerous extracurri­cular activities is important to me because it creates more well-rounded and balanced individual­s.

I am the president/CEO of CODE Credit Union, a position I have held since 1990.

What’s one lesson that everyone should learn?

The ability to problem-solve is a skill that will always be in demand.
