Dayton teen’s brother indicted on murder charge in her death
Girl, 14, was fatally shot in her home in Belmont neighborhood.
The half-brother of a teenage girl shot to death in Dayton has been indicted in the case.
Jason D. Tidwell was indicted in Montgomery County for murder, tampering with evidence, felonious assault, discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises and weapons under disability. He will be arraigned July 18.
The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office says the grand jury declined to indict Dylan M. Angel in this case “due to insufficient evidence.” He will be released from jail.
Dayton police said Mackenna Kronenberger was “an innocent bystander” to the shooting that occurred around 1 a.m. July 5 on Morse Avenue in the Belmont neighborhood.
“The investigation determined that the defendant ( Jason D. Tidwell) had been in a fight with another 18-year-old, Dylan M. Angel. Gunshots were fired, and one of the shots entered the home of the victim and killed the defendant’s stepsister,” reads a press release from Prosecutor Mat Heck.
Police arrested Angel, 18, and Tidwell, 18, at the site of the shooting.
Kronenberger had just finished her freshman year at Carroll High School.
Tidwell remained in jail Thursday on $1 million bond.
Montgomery County Court records show Tidwell was also convicted June 20 of having weapons under disability in connection with a March 12 arrest. He was sentenced to five years of probation.
