A 16-year-old boy from Chandlersville died and 11 others were injured Saturday in a two-vehicle crash in Muskingum County.

A dispatcher from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Zanesville Post wouldn’t release the boy’s name Sunday and it wasn’t listed in a news release.

He died at the scene, after apparently losing control of his southbound vehicle on Route 376 in Blue Rock Twp. at about 8:15 p.m., troopers said.

The boy’s 2001 Audi A4 collided with a northbound 2004 Ford Freestar driven by Stephen L. Hampton, 47, of Blue Rock, with nine passengers inside it.

The crash happened near milepost 4, about 75 miles east of Columbus.

Two passengers in the Chandlersville boy’s car, both 15-year-old boys from Duncan Falls, were transported to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Their identities were also not released.

All the passengers in Hampton’s vehicle were also transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries: Bonnie L. Hampton, 44; Mark L. Derwacter, 23; Brandon L. Brearley, 26; Amanda D. Derwacter, 25; and four unidentified juveniles, all of Blue Rock; and Matthew T. Wickham, 24, of Louisville.

The fatal crash is still under investigation.

The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office, Genesis EMS, Duncan Falls Fire Department and Wayne Twp. Fire Department assisted at the scene.
