What drew you back to Northridge after college?

-

My husband and I are both Northridge graduates. We married in 2014 and have one daughter who will soon be 2. My parents, sister and brother and my husband’s family also grew up in Northridge. We are very close with our families, live next door to my grandparents, and enjoy spending our spare time with them and our close friends that we graduated with.

We love living here because of the small town feel. I know most people who live here and most of them want what’s best for their kids and for their community. The community really pulled through when they voted for the new school building and it shows how much they understand the importance of the education and learning environment for their children, grandchildren, neighbors, etc.

When someone in this town needs something, the whole town really pulls through. Everyone may not always get along, but they can come to an agreement on the important things. You find disagreements in every town, but you don’t always find the parallel cohesiveness in times of need.

How do you strengthen the community in your role?

I have been the site director for Champions at Northridge for two years. I strive to help provide the best preschool experience for the families and students of the Northridge community. A positive early educational experience can begin an uphill path for students and it’s my goal to give them this.

Preschool is a learning experience for the families as well. Having a positive early experience in education can help to motivate families to continue setting high goals for their students and being an active part in their child’s education. We hope to not only reach the students enrolled in the program, but their siblings, family members, and friends as well. Through family engagement events of our own as well as participating in those held by the school district, we aim to be a piece of the Northridge community.

We truly believe in early education, providing young students the opportunity to prepare educationally and socially for their student careers. We live and teach by our company’s service values and strive to provide the best educational and social experience possible for the 4-year-old students in Northridge.

We are currently licensed by the Ohio Department of Education and have received accreditations through NAEYC and 5-star Step Up to Quality.

Last year we reached our alltime high for family engagement and survey scores and we only hope to continue to satisfy the families of the community. We are always enrolling and are excited to receive as many students as possible.

What are your professional aspirations for the future?

I am currently attending Wright State University to receive a master of education in school counseling hoping to complete by December 2018.

I am hoping to work in a school district similar to Northridge (or Northridge) and help provide students the information they need to see all of their options.

I would love to be a part of or create a program that allows students to begin career research and preparation from a young age.

I believe this is an important part of student success.

This allows students to be a part of an early standard for success and allows them to explore their options before the stress of high school graduation and joining the world.
