Council to vote on ban for growing marijuana

Springboro City Council is to vote on Thursday on establishi­ng a permanent and full prohibitio­n on the cultivatio­n, processing and dispensing of medical marijuana in the city. Since August 2016, a moratorium on these activities has been in effect in Springboro on the acceptance and processing of permits necessary for these uses. Rulemaking on all aspects of medical marijuana legalized under state law will go into effect in September 2018.

Also the council is to vote on a resolution authorizin­g the city manager to execute and ratify a purchase agreement to sell 9.7 acres of land at South Tech Business Park to Dayton Children’s Hospital. The city-owned property is located at the terminus of South Tech Boulevard and to the north of the existing Dayton Children’s Hospital campus. The hospital is to pay $97,000. The hospital is proposing to utilize the property mainly for potential future access and customer parking.

Also, developer Larry Dillin is expected to unveil his plan for the proposed multi-million dollar Austin Landing South for the first time for the public at Thursday’s council meeting.

In addition, the council is scheduled to consider a developmen­t agreement with Springboro Landing Associates, the company owning the land for the developmen­t of the 63.7 acres in Springboro city limits and 3.5 acres in Miami Twp. The city northern limits in Montgomery County.

Dillin is also expected to be involved in redevelopm­ent of Springboro’s central crossroads.

The presentati­on is scheduled during the formal meeting, beginning at 7 p.m.

The council could also discuss the developmen­t agreement during work session to begin at 6 p.m.

The council meets at city hall, 320 W. Central Ave., Ohio 73 in Springboro.
