Washington Twp. Recreation is celebrating its two new aquatic slides with a Celebrate the Slides weekend of pool parties set for Friday-Sunday.
The two new slides include an 85-foot, partially-enclosed figure eight flume that’s blue and an 80-foot, fully enclosed yellow corkscrew slide. With a combined flow rate of 1,300 gallons per minute, this pair promises families twice as many opportunities to go with the flow.
Kids and adults alike can try out the new slides at a public Celebrate the Slides party on opening day, Saturday, from 1 to 4:45 p.m. A food truck will be on site. For residents, admission is $2.50 for youth/seniors and $5 for adults. Non-residents pay $5 for youth/seniors and $10 for adults. All of the recreation department’s passes are accepted for free admission. On Sunday, an open swim from 1 to 4:45 p.m. will benefit Hannah’s Treasure Chest, an organization that provides care packages of clothes, toys, books, safety equipment and hygiene items for children in need. Normal entrance fees apply.
A grand opening and ribbon cutting party at 5:30 p.m. Friday is open to anyone with a Complete or Aquatic pass. Children who placed in the top five tiers of the Name the Slides Contest will be the first down the slide. Free food courtesy of Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers.
