Washington-Centervill­e Public Library has announced that the Dottie Yeck Good Life Award Writing Contest will open for online entries through tomorrow. The contest is open to teens enrolled in a seventh- through ninthgrade curriculum­who live or attend school in Montgomery County. Besides the top prize of $3,000, $100 will be granted to writers earning an Award of Distinctio­n and $250 will be awarded to the winner’s classroom. The top essay winners will also be featured in the Dayton Daily News and on the libraryweb­site. Other prizes will also be awarded.

The writing contest is fundedbya generousen­dowment fromthe family of Dottie Yeck. Mrs. Yeck believed you are never too young to have a positive impact on others. The goal of the contest is toencourag­e teenagers to think deeply about themselves and their impact on their community.

The public is welcome to join the Library in celebratin­g these winners at the Good Life Celebratio­n at Centervill­e Library on Thursday, Nov. 30, from 7 to 8:30 pm. The programwil­l feature author and nationally known teen leadership expert Fran Kick.
