Washington-Centerville Public Library has announced that the Dottie Yeck Good Life Award Writing Contest will open for online entries through tomorrow. The contest is open to teens enrolled in a seventh- through ninthgrade curriculumwho live or attend school in Montgomery County. Besides the top prize of $3,000, $100 will be granted to writers earning an Award of Distinction and $250 will be awarded to the winner’s classroom. The top essay winners will also be featured in the Dayton Daily News and on the librarywebsite. Other prizes will also be awarded.
The writing contest is fundedbya generousendowment fromthe family of Dottie Yeck. Mrs. Yeck believed you are never too young to have a positive impact on others. The goal of the contest is toencourage teenagers to think deeply about themselves and their impact on their community.

The public is welcome to join the Library in celebrating these winners at the Good Life Celebration at Centerville Library on Thursday, Nov. 30, from 7 to 8:30 pm. The programwill feature author and nationally known teen leadership expert Fran Kick.
