2 elected leaders to leave their jobs
Montgomery County commissioner, clerk of courts are Democrats.
Two longtime Montgomery County leaders will leave their elected offices.
County Commissioner Dan Foley, 52, will not seek re-election next year, and Clerk of Courts Greg Brush will retire Oct. 31 to take another job.
Both men are Democrats, and both made their announcements first to the Dayton Daily News.
Foley had been appointed clerk of courts in 2000 and became a commissioner in 2007. Brush, 54, replaced Foley as clerk.
Brush said he found another job, one he said he could not disclose until he starts it Nov. 1.
Foley, who survived close races his last two elections, said he did not have a new job planned and kept open the possibility of running for public office in the future.
Democratic Party officials will appoint someone to fill Brush’s job through 2018.
Commissioners are paid $102,897 a year, and the clerk makes $111,000 annually.
