Upcoming events for writers, book lovers
The Dayton Jewish Community presents its 2017 Cultural Arts & Book Festival, running Oct. 19-Dec. 7, and including a variety of film, theater and book events.
The festival kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 19, with “Einstein! A One Man Show,”at 7 p.m., at the Oakwood High School Auditorium (1200 Far Hills Avenue, Oakwood) and explores Einstein’s early years in Berlin. The show is presented by actor Jack Fry, an award-winning playwright and actor. Tickets may be purchased online in advance, at www.jewishdayton.org or at the door.

■ Wednesday, Oct. 25, 7 p.m., Wright Memorial Library (1776 Far Hills Ave., Oakwood) — Author Gail Saltz shares her book, “The Power of Different,” an inspiring examination of the connection between the“potential for great talent and conditions commonly thought tobe‘d isabilities ,’” based on her experiences as a psychoanalyst and professor of psychiatry. This event is free and open to the public.
■ Monday, Oct. 30, 7 p.m., Boonshoft CJCE (525 Versailles Drive, Centerville) — Rabbi Naomi Levy shares her book “Einstein & The Rabbi: Searching for the Soul,” inspired by a poignant letter by Einstein. To register, visit www.jewishdayton.org.
■ Wednesday, Nov. 1, 6:30 p.m., Coco’s Bistro (250 Warren St., Dayton) — an evening with author Jill Santopolo, whose nationally and internationally best-selling romantic debut novel, “The Light We Lost,” has been translated into more than 30 languages.
