FAST FACTS Comprehensive Cancer Center Designation: The Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center is part of the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCCJames), one of 49 cancer centers across the United States to hold the designation of comprehensive cancer center from the National Cancer Institute for research excellence. In 2016, the institution was ranked “exceptional” and received a perfect score of 10 – the highest ranking possible.

Clinical Trials: As one of only a few programs nationwide funded by the NCI to conduct phase I and II clinical trials on novel anticancer drugs, the OSUCCC-James is a leader in advancing clinical and basic research for the prevention, detection and treatment of cancer. Researchers and clinicians work side-by-side to investigate and then move promising new therapies from the lab bench to the patient’s bedside, all with the goal of creating a cancer-free world one discovery, one person at a time.

Dozens of breast cancer clinical trials are typically open and enrolling patients at the OSUCCC-James, including trials to test new targeted medical therapies for triple negative and HER2-positive breast cancers, targeted partial breast radiation techniques and non-medical prevention trials.
