Hearing isdelayed forex-teacher
The former Stivers High School drama teacher indicted on pandering obscenity of a minor had his suppression hearing pushed back until Nov. 15.
John S. Findley, 34, appeared Wednesday with counsel infront ofMontgomery County Common Pleas Court Judge Barbara Gorman. Thehearingendedafter a couple minutes as prosecutors and defense agreed to continue the hearing for two weeks.
Findley has been indicted on seven counts of pandering obscenity of a minor or pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor from November 2015 until August 2016.
TheMontgomery County Prosecutor’sOfficeand Findley’s attorney have said the alleged victimwas not a Stivers student. Prosecutors said Findleywas charged for having pictures of a juvenile that were found on his phone.
Dayton police have asked anyone that is an alleged victim of Findley, or knows someonewhomay be a victim, to call Sgt. Gary Lowe at 937-333-1132.
Detectives wanted the public to know that this remains an open investigation, according to a media release.
Defense attorney Kevin Lennen said duringWednesday’s brief hearing that he was challenging evidence froman iPad that policeused a searchwarrant to examine.
Findley’s bond has been set at $100,000 plus electronic monitoring. Findley also had work privileges granted.
