Library to offer music series at lunchtime

A new lunchtime music series at the Dayton Metro Library offers a mid-day escape for downtown workers and visitors. The free, live performanc­es take place on Fridays in the Main Library Eichelberg­er Forum, 215 E. Third St.

Performanc­es are Fridays, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Nov. 24: DC Ensemble. The Dianne Coble Ensemble entertains and inspires with their lively gospel sound. Since 2012 this choir has been sharing a message of joy through their music.

Dec. 1: Duante Beddingfie­ld, featuring The Randy Villars Trio. Collaborat­ing with pianist Randy Villars, Beddingfie­ld creates a crowd-friendly act that makes jazz both accessible and inventive. Matt Wiles (bass) and Jeff Mellott (drums) round out the band.

Dec. 8: Eric Loy. Guitarist Eric Loy plays a wide range of musical styles, from jazz to classical to rock. He’s recorded nine instrument­al albums since the 1970s, playing classical, steelstrin­g, electric, and harp-guitar.

Dec. 15: The Corndrinke­rs. A Saturday night tradition at square dances in southwest Ohio, The Corndrinke­rs are a toe-tapping, old-time country string band featuring twin fiddles, banjo, guitar and bass.

Dec. 22: Trey Stone. Pianist Trey Stone served for 15 years as music director at The Second City, the famed comedy institutio­n in Chicago. He leads his group Trey Stone and the Ringers and tours internatio­nally.

Dec. 29: D J Basim. Funk music is front and center with D J Basim, host of WYSO’s “Behind the Groove.” Basim produced an award-wining documentar­y, “Boogie Nights: A History of Funk Music in Dayton,” and he is Production Coordinato­r for Dayton Youth Radio.
