Cash drawer, alcohol taken in burglary Holiday argument leads to stabbing
Two burglars were able to get away with a cash drawer and a bottle of alcohol after breaking into the Smith’s Liquor store in Dayton early Thanksgiving.
Officers responded to 1024 South Smithville Road around 2:30 a.m. after receiving a call that the store’s front window was broken.
Police reviewed surveillance video and found two men broke the window, grabbed a cash drawer and a bottle of alcohol, then fled the store on foot, according to a police incident report.
Officers believe the suspects were only in the store about a minute.
A 26-year-old Dayton man was stabbed and had bleach thrown on him after an argument over what day Thanksgiving falls on, according to a police report.
Officers and medics were dispatched to the 1900 block of Wesleyan Road around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday and found a man lying in a pool of blood mixed with what appeared to be bleach, police said. The victim told police he was in an argument about what day Thanksgiving was.
After a scuffle, the victim stated the woman grabbed a glass object and threw it at him, causing it to shatter when it missed. The confrontation moved to another part of the house where the woman threw bleach on him, picked up a piece of broken glass and sliced his arm.
The man was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, and injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening.
The suspect fled the scene and was not located, police said.
