Ex-Red Cross volunteer indicted on child pornography charges
Dayton man accused of sharing sexual material.
A former Red Cross volunteer will be arraigned Dec. 14 after being indicted Thursday on 35 child pornography charges.
David Fugett, 33, of Dayton, is accused of sharing child pornography from a computer authorities seized from his Grafton Avenue apartment, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.
Fugett is charged in the indictment on 21 counts of pandering of sexual oriented material involving a minor and 14 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor.
The investigation was initiated by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force, county prosecutor’s spokesman Greg Flannagan said.
Contacted at his apartment by News Center 7’s Caroline Reinwald, Fugett declined to be interviewed: “Ma’am, at the advice of my attorney I have nothing to say,” he said.
A message seeking comment was left with Fugett’s attorney, Anthony VanNoy.
According to a Nov. 20 affidavit and statement filed in Dayton Municipal Court, “Fugett disseminated videos ... that depicted minors engaging in sexual conduct and/or contact.”
Fugett “is no longer a volunteer with the American Red Cross,” according to a statement Red Cross officials released Thursday. “Because of the pending criminal investigation, the policy of the Red Cross is to provide no further public comment,” the statement read.
According to the affidavit, police reported they were “able to download 22 videos from Fugett’s IP address, which led to a search warrant and seizure of digital devices.”
The seized devices were analyzed and found to have child pornography stored on them, according to the affidavit.
None of the child pornography was produced locally, Flannagan said.
