$100,000 bond set in child sex abuse case

A Franklin man was arraigned on rape and gross sexual imposition charges involving a 4-year-old boy more than seven years ago.

Jerry Hurst, 58, was arrested on Tuesday on the charges issued on Nov. 9 by a Warren County grand jury.

Hurst was arraigned Wednesday in Warren County Common Pleas Court via a video link with the county jail.

Magistrate Andew Hasselbach set bond at $100,000 and ordered him to have no contact with the alleged victim or two other children living in the same household.

Hurst, who is on probation for aggravated drug traffickin­g, was arrested on Tuesday in the probation department at the courthouse in Warren County, according to jail records.

Hurst is accused of engaging in sexual conduct and contact with a minor less than 10 years old between January 2010 and July 2011, according to a list issued after his indictment.

Hasselbach also appointed a lawyer for Hurst, who prosecutor­s said has failed to appear for court dates in the past and had “multiple criminal contacts out of state.” LAWRENCE BUDD disturbanc­e at a home on Locust Lane in West Milton Thursday morning.

King was charged with having a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, tampering with evidence, underage consumptio­n and a CCW charge.

The magistrate wished King a happy birthday during his initial appearance in Miami County Municipal Court.

King’s bond was set at $45,000 for the charges.
