7 tickets to Dayton events perfect for everyone on your list

Why not give the gift of an experience this holiday season?

- By Sarah Franks Staff Writer

Watching a loved one’s face light up as they open the gift you spent months (or days) picking out is often a moment you wish you could replay over and over again. So while the gift of an experience is missing a few of the ribbons and bows a new casserole dish might have — giving a present of time and memories is well worth the investment.

These seven events happening around Dayton this winter might make holiday shopping a whole lot easier this year.

1.) Harlem Globetrotters

Your friend or loved one doesn’t need to be a basketball fanatic to have a good time at a legendary Harlem Globetrotters game. However, be warned that they will have Louis Armstrong’s “Sweet Georgia Brown” — the unmistakable whistled theme song of the Globetrotters — stuck in their head for days after.

When: 2 p.m. Dec. 31 Where: Nutter Center, 3640 Colonel Glenn Hwy #430, Fairborn

2.) Luke Combs Concert

Breakthrough country superstar Luke Combs is extending his headlining “Don’t Tempt Me With A Good Time Tour” just long enough to make a stop in Troy. Come February, the short, cold days of winter have been piling up, making a country mega party a perfect surprise.

When: 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8 Where: Hobart Arena, 255 Adams St., Troy

3.) Paw Patrol LIVE!

You are guaranteed to be the coolest aunt or uncle, grandparent, etc. of the season when you give your favorite youngster on your list a pair of tickets to the first Paw Patrol LIVE! You can even make them a VIP — a “Very Important Pup! The

VIP package includes a premium seat, special souvenir gift and exclusive access to a Meet & Greet with Ryder and two PAW Patrol Characters after the show.” When :6p.m.Jan.1&2 Where: Schuster Center, 1 W. 2nd St., Dayton

4.) A glitzy evening at the Schuster Center, Victoria Theatre, or The Loft

If somebody is new to the theatre scene in Dayton, they will be surprised when they find out how many productions are going on at any time. Space Oddity: David Brighton as David Bowie, “Hello Dolly,” Sophisticated Ladies with Steven Reineke and Bernstein Songfest are just a handful of the shows coming to Dayton this January, making this holiday season the perfect time to surprise a loved one with a glamorous night out.

5.) Tickets to see their favorite Dayton sports team

Whether it’s the Dragons, Flyers or the Dayton Dynamo — your loved one is bound to have some love for Dayton sports. Even if they aren’t exactly a fan yet, a pair of tickets to your favorite game might be the best way to get them on board with your team, and get yourself a new teammate to attend games with while you’re at it.
