Open spaciousness and seclusion come together invitingly in the brick home at 1599 South Greenlee Road in Ludlow Falls.

Custom built in 2014 by owners who gave attention to detail, the home sits on nearly 14 acres of lush lawn and adjacent fields providing views that seem to go on forever.

Said one co-owner, “Every step of the way is very much upgraded: granite, ceramic tile, kitchen cabinets, appliances, windows – everything is top-level.”

Not only does he take pride in the home but also in a multi-purpose outbuilding.

“It’s an incredible Morton building, and it’s heated, has a kitchen, full bath with shower and ceramic tile and a tall overhead door for large vehicles,” he said.

The home’s floor plan was conceived with an open concept design. Its many upgraded features create a casual elegance within nearly 3,380 square feet of living space, which includes an

upper-level bonus room.

Pam Bornhorst of Coldwell Banker Heritage lists this home for $659,900.

A long lane extends toward the house to parking space and ends at the Morton building. The central front porch is recessed between the two main wings of the home.

Under a tray ceiling, pale earth-toned ceramic tile with a marble-like grain covers the floor in the entry.

French doors open to the study, which sits under a coffered ceiling. This study could serve as an extra bedroom with its walk-in closet and access through pocket doors to a full bath that is also accessible from the hallway. Double windows with custom-made fabric blinds face the expansive front view.

Natural light abounds throughout the home.

“We like windows – lots

of large windows,” the coowner said.

Multiple windows in the great room face the long veranda, a good place to relax and enjoy the unfettered rear view.

Built-in bookcases sit at one side of the stone fireplace, which is accented by a rustic mantel. Coffered detailing embellishes the deep pan ceiling at its center.

Another deep pan ceiling enhances the dining area, which enjoys the same nature view.

Separating dining area and kitchen, a long granite breakfast bar is accented by contemporary hanging lights. Matching granite counters wrap around the end kitchen wall, centered with triple windows.

Custom-made cabinets with rope trim and upper moldings surround the work space. Crown moldings frame the tray ceiling above the

center island, which holds a smooth-surface cooktop accented by a stainless-steel hanging light.

High-end appliances include the French-door refrigerator, double wall ovens and dishwasher.

A side counter provides a bar area with an under-counter beverage cooler and upper bottle and glass racks. Nearby is a walk-in pantry with wraparound shelves.

Yet another deep pan ceiling and a large-window view enhance the main bedroom.

Two walk-in closets flank the hall entrance to the private bath. The bathroom doorway is flanked by two separate vanities. Ceramic tile with a decorative border covers the walls around the oval jetted tub, and matching tile surrounds the glass-enclosed step-in shower.

Two more bedrooms share the hall bath with a double vanity in the anteroom and tub and shower in the adjoining room

Counters and a deep sink are installed in the laundry room. The oversized, threecar garage has finished walls.

The upper-level bonus room with a partially vaulted ceiling offers versatile space for work or play.

More amenities for work, hobbies and storage are available in the 42-by-72-foot outbuilding. Front or back entry is possible through 14-foot garage doors, and there is a standard size garage door on one side. Its heating system has two zoned thermostats. Other features include kitchen cabinets, sink, bath with stepin shower, special LED lighting, and a covered porch area along one side.

This Ludlow Falls location in Newton Twp. is about five minutes from Troy city limits.

“About 10.5 acres are used for crops,” the owner said, “and we mow about three and a quarter acres.”
