Police say two shootings related
Homicide investigators are now involved in the two shootings Monday night that appear to be connected, Dayton police Sgt. Ryan Halburnt said.
According to the preliminary investigation, he said, there was some kind of disturbance at the Boone Place address where several shots were fired. One victim was found on Boone Place, the other on Danner Avenue.
Both victims are adult males. The Danner Avenue victim suffered life-threatening injuries, the sergeant said.
The Boone Place victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Both victims were taken to Miami Valley Hospital.
“At this point, we believe it started over on Boone Place,” Sgt. Halburnt said. He declined to elaborate on the information police have that allowed him to say the incidents are connected.
Police began receiving calls about 8:36 p.m. about a shooting in the 800 block of Boone Place. Minutes later, police and a medic unit were sent to the 1000 block of Danner Avenue on a report of a victim who had been shot, he said.
Halburnt said police have no suspects and investigators aren’t sure who the victims are. At 10 p.m., homicide detectives were canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses.
Anyone with information about what happened at Boone Place and/or Danner Avenue is asked to call police at 937-333-2677 or Miami Valley Crime Stoppers at 937222-STOP.
