Jackson dismisses tweet from Britt’s agent after loss

Receiver released by Browns in new GM’s first move.

The Browns cut veteran receiver Kenny Britt on Friday, the first move executed by new general manager John Dorsey, and Britt’s agent, Fadde Mikhail, took a shot at Hue Jackson on Sunday after he fell to 1-28 as coach of the Browns.

“Another L for a part time HC, Full time Beat Writer!” Mikhail tweeted.

Jackson said he heard about the tweet but didn’t see it.

“I’m not going to get caught up in those things,” Jackson said. “At the end of the day, we felt it was better for us to just move [from Britt]. People are not going to like that. People are going to say what they want to say. People are entitled in this damn world to say whatever they want. It doesn’t mean they are right. It doesn’t mean they’re right at all.”

No rush: Quarterback Brett Hundley, who improved to 3-4 as the Packers’ starter with six-time Pro Bowler Aaron Rodgers on injured reserve, had taken 19 sacks in his previous six starts. The Browns, though, had just one sack against him, and it went to defensive end Nate Orchard.

Rookie defensive end Myles Garrett, the No. 1 overall pick, had one of the Browns’ four quarterback hits but was shut out from registering a sack.

“(Hundley was) throwing the ball quickly,” Jackson said. “(Garrett) gets two steps up the field, and the ball is gone. (The Packers) made a huge effort in the second half to do just that, but then (Garrett) is going to have to find other ways to combat that to be able to be more of a factor in the game.

“He’s learning so many different things that the National Football League teams do to nullify him, so that he can’t make the impact plays that we all want him to make. He has to continue to find ways to do that.”

Down to eight: Browns 10-time Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Thomas was named one of eight finalists for the 2017 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award. A panel of former players selected the eight finalists from 32 nominees, one from each team. The winner will be determined by a vote of current players and announced Feb. 3 during the NFL Honors show on NBC. The winner will receive a $25,000 donation from the NFL Foundation to a charity of his choice.

New York Jets quarterback Josh McCown, who spent the past two seasons with the Browns, is another finalist.
