Winter coats needed for children
Centerville Rotary Club has partnered with local children’s nonprofit Hannah’s Treasure Chest for the fifth year to provide warm winter coats for children in need.
“Each quarter of the year we dedicate our members’ “Happy Dollars” to a particular non-profit recipient,” said Club president Mark “Peachy” Metzner. “We now routinely dedicate our 3rd quarter “Happy Dollars” to the Operation Warm coat project for Hannah’s Treasure Chest.”
In addition to the 3rd quarter funds, the club received several large, anonymous donations and a grant from Rotary District 6670. In total, Centerville Rotary Club raised $9,180 to purchase 510 coats from Operation Warm, a Pennsylvania nonprofit organization that provides quality, new coats to children in need through partnerships with other nonprofits.
Centerville Rotary Club then donates the coats to local nonprofit Hannah’s Treasure Chest to be included in care packages for area children in need.
In 2018, Centerville Rotary hopes to combine fundraising efforts with other Rotary Clubs or service clubs to increase the number of coats purchased for children in need. Project coordinator Ron Hollenbeck may be reached at 937-885-3902 to schedule a presentation.
