- NANCY BOWMAN, CONTRIBUTING WRITER

Development of a master plan for County Road 25A corridor between Piqua and Troy will continue into early next year following input from the community, a steering committee, property owners and others.

An update on the project that includes the undeveloped area around the Interstate 75 Exit 78 interchange was provided Tuesday by consultants Kim Littleton of Burton Planning and Rick Stein of Urban Decision Group. The study covers some 3,000 acres in an area extending east to the Great Miami River, west to Washington Road, north to Piqua and south to just outside of Troy.

Consultants said possible developments in the area were assisted living/senior facilities, medical office space and light manufacturing/warehousing, particularly with e-commerce’s growth along with continued agricultural use and a hotel and associated businesses.

Littleton said participants at earlier input meetings and in an online survey also supported preserving green spaces near features such as the Eldean Covered Bridge and agricultural land in what is now around 80 percent agricultural.

Three possible land-use scenarios also were outlined briefly. Littleton said the next public meeting, possibly to be scheduled in February, would include details.
