Mayor-elect plans big party
The incoming Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz administration is inviting the public to a weekend-long inauguration celebration set for Jan. 20-21.
The Our City Our Future events will range from free family events and a prayer service to a swanky dinner and after-hours party in the Heights Restaurant that offers a 360-degree view of downtown Toledo.
Activities begin 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 20 with an inter-faith prayer service at Warren AME Church.
The Inaugural Ball will be 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. the same day in the Toledo Renaissance Hotel. Tickets are $175. The event will feature live music, dancing, and food grazing stations.
An “after hours” for Young Professionals is planned for afterward, with tickets at $75 for one person or $100 for two persons.

From 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 21, the Kapszukiewicz family will host a Free Family Fun Day at The Toledo Lucas County Public Library.
A full day of performances is planned, with choirs, comedy, singers, acting, and poetry. There will be interactive stations staffed by the Toledo Zoo, Children’s Theatre Workshop, The Toledo Lucas County Library, The Toledo Museum of Art, and others.
Mr. Kapszukiewicz, now the Lucas County treasurer, defeated incumbent Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson Nov. 7. He will be sworn in to office on Jan. 2.
