With the rise of kabuki theaters in the pleasure quarters of Japan as a popular form of mass entertainment, many woodblock prints depicted these theatrical scenes. JANE REECE INVITATIONAL OPENING RECEPTION: 6to9 p.m. at Dayton Society of Artists - DSA, 48 High St., Dayton. Exhibition features work by 15 women photographers who live and work in the Miami Valley. The photographs range from the traditional to the abstract, including photos that explore the everyday realities of life through color rich depictions. Exhibition runs through Feb. 17. SPACE ODDITY: DAVID BRIGHTON AS DAVID BOWIE WITH THE DAYTON PHILHARMONIC ROCKIN’ ORCHESTRA: 8to11 p.m. at Schuster Performing Arts Center, 1 W. 2nd St., Dayton. The evening flows through all of the iterations of Bowie the performer, while Brighton and the orchestra weave through the artist’s many musical styles.
