Be sure you know the original prices, so you can figure out how much money you will save by buying at sales. Here are some of the sales:

■ White sales: Discounts on bed linens, bath mats, towels, mattress pads, etc.

■ Red tag sales: Color tags are placed on special sale items.

■ Clearance sales: Stores clear out unsold merchandise.

■ Inventory sales: Reductions on a variety of retail stock.
