Will you be watching TV to bring in the new year?
Don’t miss: New Year’s Eve celebrations: There’s no shame in staying home to party in front of your TV, as long as you vacuum up the confetti by February. Among the prime-time offerings are “Fox’s New Year’s Eve With Steve Harvey: Live From Times Square” (8 p.m. Sunday, Fox). Joining Harvey on his first NYE special are Celine Dion, the Backstreet Boys, Neil Diamond and Flo Rida. Another newcomer to the NYE programming scene is Andy Cohen, who teams up with Anderson Cooper on the “CNN New Year’s Eve Celebration” (8 p.m., CNN). Cohen replaces longtime co-host Kathy Griffin. Last, but certainly not least is “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2018” (8 p.m., ABC). It has the rock band Imagine Dragons performing, along with Walk the Moon and others.
Other bets
Monday: Another run for the roses begins with a new season of “The Bachelor.” This time the leading man is Arie Luyendyk Jr., best remembered for having his heart broken by Emily Maynard. Now he begins his own pursuit of a soul mate. 8 p.m., ABC.
Monday: “The Untold Tales of Armistead Maupin” is the latest documentary from the “Independent Lens” franchise. It examines the life and work of the gay rights pioneer who created “Tales of the City.” The film includes commentary from Neil Gaiman, Laura Linney, Olympia Dukakis, Sir Ian McKellen and Amy Tan. 10:30 p.m., PBS.
Tuesday: The new sky-high comedy “L.A. to Vegas” follows a fictional airline crew and the eccentric passengers who, every weekend, take the roundtrip flight from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. Dylan McDermott leads the cast. 9 p.m., Fox.
Wednesday: The truth is apparently still out there. “The X-Files” returns again in “eventseries” form as Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) learn that they aren’t the only ones desperately searching for their long-lost son, William. 8 p.m., Fox.
Wednesday: You’ve seen “black-ish.” Now get ready for “grown-ish.” It’s a spin-off comedy series that follows Zoey (Yara Shahidi), the Johnsons’ popular, entitled, stylish and socially active 17-year- old daughter, as she heads into her freshman year of college. 8 p.m., Freeform.
Wednesday: “9-1-1” is a new procedural drama that delves into the high-stakes experiences of police officers, paramedics and firefighters. It features a standout cast headed by Angela Bassett, Peter Krause and Connie Britton. 9 p.m., Fox.
Thursday: “The Four: Battle for Stardom” brings a new twist to the TV singing competition. The show essentially starts off with the four best contestants and brings in challengers each week to try and knock them off. 8 p.m., Fox.
Friday: With “Child Support,” Fred Savage adds a new role to his resume: game show host. He presides over a program that prompts adult contestants to answer 10 questions correctly. If they get a query wrong, they have a chance to be saved by a panel of five children who offer up their own answers. 8 p.m., ABC.
Saturday: Spots on the Olympic roster are at stake as the 2018 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships, which started earlier in the week, wind down in San Jose. Tonight’s telecast features the men’s free skate competition. 8 p.m., NBC.
