Juvenile among 3 arrested in slaying

Three people were arrested Sunday in connec- tion to a weekend shooting death in Newark.

The Columbus Dispatch reports Jaden Osborn, 15, was taken into custody by Newark police detectives around 1 a.m. at his Heath home, according to a release from the department. He was scheduled to appear in juve- nile court Monday. He faces counts of complicity to murder and aggravated murder and complicity to aggravated robbery, according to court documents.

Two others, Tyler Ocasio, 22, and Dustin Lehoe, 21, both of Newark, were arrested later Sunday with assistance from Columbus SWAT officers. Both were charged with aggravated murder Monday in Licking County Common Pleas Court.

Authoritie­s say all three were involved in an early morning shooting on Saturday on Cherry Street in Newark, where David Barcus, 48, was found by offi- cers responding to reports of a shooting.

Barcus, who was shot in his bed, was transporte­d to Licking Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to docu- ments.

According to court documents, Lehoe, Ocasio, Osborn and one other juve- nile broke into the residence to steal money and drugs and fired shots. Video surveil- lance showed the four enter- ing the home, then running out about a minute later.

According to documents, a handgun was found in the Columbus house where Lehoe and Ocasio were arrested.

Ocasio was already on probation after pleading guilty in January 2017 to a felony count of attempted robbery.

Ocasio and Lehoe were being held in the Licking County Jail. Osborn was in custody at the Multi-County Juvenile Detention Center in Lancaster, according to documents. way Patrol post in Marietta. He is separately accused of stalking a subordinat­e’s wife after she ended their affair. The gun was found in a search of Elschlager’s home in connection with the stalking case.

He has pleaded not guilty to federal charges including deprivatio­n of civil rights in the stalking case. That trial has been reschedule­d for early March.
